The Marysburgh Vortex
The Marysburgh Vortex is similar in nature to the Bermuda Triangle. Unexplained anomalies in navigation, shipwrecks, and local lore make the triangle a dangerous place to be. The Vortex is also home to Charity Shoal. Studies of Charity Shoal are being conducted trying to determine if it is the result of a meteor strike. A meteor strike may explain the navigational anomalies.

The Vortex is home to upwards of 250 shipwrecks and dozens of lost aircraft. Most lost vessels occurred before GPS was used for navigation.

                                                                     Tale of the Bavaria
What would cause a seasoned captain and crew to abandon a seaworthy ship?

The Bavaria was being towed, along with two other ships, across Lake Ontario by the Calvin. The tow line snapped causing the Bavaria and the ship being towed behind them, the Norway, to collide. Both ships sustained little damage. The captain of the Calvin turned around to assist the Bavaria in reattaching the tow line. Capt. John Marshall and the crew of the Bavaria were no longer on board. The ship was abandoned. A life boat was found floating upside down a few hundred feet away. The sailors were never found.
