 Copper
Michigan is famous for its rich copper deposits and extensive iron ore deposits. Copper is a reddish colored metal with a high electrical and thermal conductivity. It is in the same family as Silver and Gold and is a malleable metal. It is beautiful natural or polished. Native Americans started using this natural resource as early as seven thousand years ago. The native copper nuggets were so pure that copper tools were directly fashioned out of the rock by pounding the copper pieces into shape.
