 Lake Superior Agate
The Lake Superior Agate is noted for its rich red, orange and yellow coloring caused by iron, a major mineral found throughout the region. Agates were formed when ground water, rich with quartz, deposited the fine grain stone in concentric circle inside the gas pockets of hardened lava. Agates range in size from half an inch to 8 inches.
